Programs:
Cooking Fuel Program
80% of the population in Gachie and Karura use firewood, charcoal and Kerosene (petroleum) as their means of fuel for cooking. FVP will introduce a new way to make cooking fuel from Plant Waste materials. A staff trainer will train groups of individuals at a time to make the fuel. Once trained individuals will have access to free or minimal cost materials to make their own cooking fuel to help their families save money on the more expensive charcoal, kerosene and firewood fuel choices.
Mama na Watoto Educational Scholarship Fund
4 scholarship funds each of $500 to be awarded each year to deserving Primary and High School students. Students attending Gachie Primary and High Schools will be eligible for the scholarships, and will have to demonstrate a financial need. Scholarships will renewable if individual’s sponsors are available after the initial scholarship award to continue to sponsor a student.
Shipping Program
Costs associated with operating a distribution center and processing thousands of donated items. Mama na Watoto raises funds each year to cover operating budget costs. The majority of funds come to ship and clear a container through customs of the recipient country each year come from donations made by partners whom we collaborate within the local community.
Library
An in-house library that consists of donated children and adult books, both non and fiction in all possible genres. A computer lab that will enable kids to learn how to use a computer, to do their homework after school, and the community to access complimentary internet services. Business services such as copying and fax that will accessible to the community on a minimal sliding scale.

OUR NEED IS URGENT!
We currently have over 30,000 books donated to us to start the Gachie Library Project. We need $25,000 ($50 per diaspora member) in customs and clearing taxes and ground transportation to get these books to the village. The village has NEVER had a library before. The world opened up to some community members living in the Diaspora, simply because they had access to books. YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A CHILD’S LIFE!We also have school desks, microscopes, computer desks for the schools, toys, and clothing items for the community in need.
